My Writing Life. One Morning at a Time.

Weekend Outing

Last Sunday we took our dogs, Susie & Billy, to Macedonia State Park up in Kent for a nature walk. We found a trail that allowed dogs and walked for over an hour. By the time we got back to our car the pups were tired, thirsty & hungry. We found a picnic table and had lunch (I shared my turkey sandwich with them). The weather was perfect, not too hot, not too cool and not windy. The color was beautiful. Last year the colors were muted, this year they are more vibrant. In other words, it was a perfect day.

When we returned home, Susie & Billy deposited themselves on the sofa and reminded there for the rest of the day until it was time for dinner and later bedtime. It wasn’t easy waking them up the next morning either.

Getting outdoors and spending a relaxing day is important especially for writers. We’re trying to cram so much into our days, balancing life, family, home, work and writing. It’s good to let it all go for one day. ‘Cause we all know the laundry will be there waiting for us as will our characters. I hope you have your getaway day and it’s as perfect as mine was.
